About Bardia Jungle Safari
Bardia Jungle Safari
Bardia National Park is located in far western Nepal along the subtropical plains that border India. The park is Nepal’s largest wildlife area. It has received few visitors compared to Nepal’s other protected areas and is therefore relatively untouched and great chance to get closer to nature. The park has the subcontinent’s largest animals including a herd of wild elephants, Bengal Tiger, six deer species, the Gangetic Dolphin and over 300 bird species and more. Our jungle safari is a thrilling must do adventure for all visitors to Nepal.
Join us for an exciting journey through the protected realm of Bardia National Park. The park has a vast jungle full of wildlife. Bardia National Park and adjoining Banke Wildlife Reserve and Blackbuck Conservation Area total more than 1530 sq km / 590 sq mile. Bardia was established as a protected area in 1988.
Located in the far west, Bardia National Park is far from the tourists areas of Nepal including Pokhara, Kathmandu and the Himalayan peaks. It is one of the most exotic and adventurous destinations in the country. The park’s jungle landscape and exotic animals are the highlights and include 53 mammal species and 23 reptile and amphibians species. Because the park receives fewer visitors than other parks, there is a greater chance of viewing the animals in their natural environment.
Our Bardia Jungle Safari is an exciting exploration of the grasslands and jungles with many Sal trees…sacred to Hindus and Buddhists, in fact Buddha was born under one in Lumbini, Nepal in the 6th century B.C.E.
Bardia National Park ranges from around 140 mt / 460 ft to 1450 mt / 4760 ft above sea level. March to June usually sees fog in the mornings and evenings with fog in the cool winters, too. The grass is shorter from February to May and wildlife is more easily seen then. Autumn is beautiful, too, and the monsoon from June to September is wet and wild.
Guests enjoy comfortable lodging along the border of the park. The view from the lodge overlooks the broad plains and sunsets and sunrises are especially dramatic and drench the sky and landscape in unforgettable colours. Along with fine cuisine and the relaxing setting, we have exciting day trips into the jungles. There are several options for moving through the terrain and each offers a unique perspective and experience. All excursions into the jungle are led by a veteran, experienced guide who understands the area and animal patterns. Modes of travel include jeep, elephant back, canoe and even hiking about on foot.
Within the grasslands and forests, we have a good chance of encountering the world’s most exotic animals in their own natural environment. There will be photo opportunities and informative descriptions by the guides.
After the safari thrills, lounging at the peaceful lodge and soaking up the views and retelling the day’s safari adventure will be a memorable event. Dusk on the plains with the darkening of the skies as the stars come out will put you in another world.
Our Bardia Jungle Safari is a chance to experience all that Nepal has to offer in a landscape far different from the mountains.
Please Note : There are additional options for more exploration in the Bardia area including the treks in the far west hills, river rafting and more. If you have the time and the interest, we can combine this jungle safari with other adventures, too.
