Khopra Ridge Khayar Lake Trekking Itinerary

  • Day 1 Kathmandu to Pokhara.

    Driving on Prithvi Highway with the flow of Trishuli River, we leave from Kathmandu (1,350m) for Pokhara. It is a 200 km ride and takes 5 to 7 hours. The objective is not to take the stress and relax. We can enjoy boating on Fewa Lake and the street of Lakeside.

    • Day 2 Drive to Nayapul and trek to Tikhedunga.

      On the second day, we will be going to Nayapul (1,070m) that is about two hours’ drive from Pokhara. After reaching Nayapul, we trek through lush Himalayan forests to reach Birethanti. We cross Modi Khola and trek for an hour or two to reach Tikhedunga. 

      • Day 3 Tikhedunga to Ghorepani.

        On the third day, we will trek from Tikhedhunga to Ghorepani (2,870m).Prithvi through Ulleri’s famous 3,200 steps. We will then walk through the Magar village of Banthantibefore crossing a couple of small water streams to reach Nangethanti. We canAfter 6 hours of trek reach Ghorepani which hosts the stunning panorama of Machhapuchhre, Hiunchuli, Annapurna South, Dhaulagiri, Annapurna I and the other snow-capped mountains.

        • Day 4 Ghorepani to Swanta.

          The fourth day we take We can trek reach morning hike to Poonhill (3,210m). Poonhillistrek renowned for the view of eight mountains. We relish the stunning view of the sun rising over the mountains. After enjoying the sunrise view and majestic panorama of the Himalayas from Poonhill, we trek to Swanta. We’ll trek through rhododendron forests and cross a couple of water streams to reach the beautiful Magar village of Swanta.

          • Day 5 Swanta to Khopra Danda.

            On the fifth day, we move from We can to Khopra Danda (3,660m). We trek up the steep ridges to reach Kharka. After trekking through a couple of bamboo and rhododendron forest, we reach Khopra Danda. Khopra Danda is also known as Khopra ridge which is one of the key points in our Khayar Lake Trekking. Like Poonhill, the sunrise enjoys the fantastic panorama of the Himalayasstaring back at us. 

            • Day 6 Khopra Danda to Khayar Base Camp.

              The sixth day takes us to Khayar Base Camp (4,020m). We will trek through alpine forests of rhododendron, juniper, and pine and pass some Buddhist monasteries on our way to Khayar Base Camp. We enjoy the magnificent view of the Himalayas from the base camp. Then we will rest for the day.

              • Day 7 Explore around Khayar Base Camp and lake.

                Seventh-day is all about exploring Khayar Base Camp and visiting Khayar Lake. We hike up to Khayar Lake and find a shrine where the Bhadra Purnima festival is celebrated. When we’re around Khayar Lake premises, we’re just 6 km away from Annapurna South. Hence, the gigantic mountain seems just a foot away from us. We relish the stunning view of Annapurna Range, Machhapuchhre, Nilgiri, Dhaulagiri, Hiunchuli, and the other Himalayas. After exploring the lake, we trek back to Khayar Base Camp.

                • Day 8 Khayar Base Camp to Khopra Danda.

                  On day eight day, we will trek down to Khopra Danda. We click some photographs with the mesmerizing view of the Himalayas in our background. We trek through dense forests of oak and rhododendron to pass small Magar and Limbu villages on our way to Khopra Danda.

                  • Day 9 Khopra to Dobato.

                    Day Nine we will trek from Khopra Danda to Dobato (3,460m). Chasing the stunning view of Mt. Machhapuchhre, Annapurna, Dhaulagiri range, Nilgiri, and Lamjung Himal range, we trek to a viewpoint of Muldai which host the charismatic view of aforementioned Himalayas. After a for an hour or two, we reach Dobato.

                    • Day 10 Dobato to Tadapani.

                      On day ten we trek from Dobato to Tadapani (2,520m). Tadapani is a meet point for many tourist routes like Poonhill and Annapurna Base Camp. We may spot deer, monkey, yak, blue sheep, Munal, and other species of animals and birds while we trek through lush Himalayan forests to reach Tadapani.

                      • Day 11 Tadapani to Pokhara via Ghandruk.

                        Day eleven we will trek from Tadapani to Ghandruk. Ghandruk is one of the most famous villages of Gurung people and is beautiful Nepali architecture village. Ghandruk hosts the magnificent view of Mt. Machhapuchhre. We then take a ride to Pokhara. It is about 3 hours ride from Ghandruk to Pokhara.

                        • Day 12 Pokhara to Kathmandu.

                          Day twelve, we return to Kathmandu from Pokhara on a tourist coach. We then spend our evening doing some shopping. Later, we meet for a farewell dinner.
