Ruby Valley Trek Itinerary

  • Day 1 Arrival at Kathmandu Airport.

    Welcome to Nepal! Our company representative will be waiting for you at Tribhuvan International Airport for your arrival. You will then be taken to the hotel where you will be staying overnight. The representative will give you briefings and an insight into the entire trek.

    • Day 2 Kathmandu to Sybrubensi (1,420 m)

      Our day kick starts early. After a heavy breakfast, we head towards Sybrubensi taking the Northern Highway, via Dhunche Bazar. Time flies by quick on the bus as you will be occupied with scenic landscapes, mountain ranges like Ganesh Himal, Manaslu, Langtang, valleys, and hills. We stay over at a guest house near the Bhote Koshi River.

      • Day 3 Syabru Besi to Gatlang (2,337 m)

        Our walking days begin today. We take the steep trail that goes through Bahun Danda Pass and takes a break after three hours upon reaching Rongga Bhanjyang. We descend to reach Goljung where we have our lunch. In about three more hours, we will reach Gatlang a Tamang village situated at an altitude of 2,337m. We take a stroll to the pond “Parvati Kunda” which holds high religious value. Today is our first night stay in tented camp.

        • Day 4 Gatlang to Somdang (3,271 m).

          We start off early post breakfast, taking the trail that ascends through pine and rhododendron forest to Yuri Kharka 3,710m where we stop for lunch. We then trek further to Khurpu Bhanjyang and then descend to the Somdang River. Our trail today passes through the 200m tall Chukarma Waterfall before reaching Somdang Village. We stay overnight in a tent.

          • Day 5 Somdang to Tipling (2,078 m) via Pangsang-La Pass (3,842 m)

            Our trek today follows a rather interesting course as we pass by the highest point of the trek, the Pangsang la pass (3,842 m). We hit the trail after breakfast, going uphill and enjoying the mesmerizing views of the beautiful landscape. We reach Pangsang Kharka which is a viewpoint located in the southwest of Somdang village. We can see mighty mountains like Manaslu and Ganesh Himal Range to our north. There is a giant entry gateway best suited for camping and sightseeing. This viewpoint is one of the best points from where we can see the 270-degree view of Langtang ranges, Ganesh Himal ranges, Manaslu range and also a slight portion of Annapurna mountain range. The trail leads us down to Tipling, a Tamang village that hosts two Buddhist Gumbas, Protestant and Catholic Churches and prayer flags on the Chhorten along the way. Shaman Dance, Horse dance, Mane dance, Mendo Maya, Paru dance and Lama (monk) dance are some of the popular cultural dances performed when trekkers and visitors stay in the village.

            • Day 6 Tipling to Shertung (1,875 m).

              We cross Adha Khola and climb uphill to sister villages of Shertung and Chalish. Shertung means place of gold and is a typical Tamang village from where we can see the Mountain View of Lapsang Karpu, Ganesh Himal (Yangri) as well as Ganesh II and III. Tamang people are rich in culture and have different dances like Jhankri dance, Ghode dance that they perform for visitors. The people here believe in witchdoctors or Jhankris and also worship natural forces and indigenous local deities interwoven with Hindu and Buddhist practices. A number of holy places like Chyamra danda, Fyanchyat monastery, and Sajyat are sacred attractions of this village.

              • Day 7 Visit Hot Springs and trek to Chalise Gaon (1,674 m).

                After having breakfast, we head down to Chalise village which is about 30 minutes’ walk away. We trek for about one and a half hours more to reach the Hot Springs also known as Tatopani. The hot spring water relaxes the muscles and is a very soothing dip. We then return back to Chalise village which is a village inhabited by Gurung and Ghale.

                • Day 8 Chalise to Jharlang (3,000 m).

                  We leave Chalise and trek to Mani Danda after breakfast. Here we can see amazing views of Ganesh Himal range. We pass by Deul danda, Gobre village, Chhap danda, and Bandari Bhir. We arrive at another Tamang village, Borang from where we trek to Ukhum for lunch. The walk continues to Chhapchyat village where you reach from Lishne jungle crossing the suspension bridge. Finally, we reach Jarlang village which is a Tamang village with about 200 houses in the settlement. 

                  • Day 9 Jharlang to Khaniyabas (1,785 m).

                    We head towards Khaniyabas today, which is a settlement inhabited by Tamang, Brahmin and Dalit people. After breakfast, we descend down to Jharlang Pahiro which takes about an hour to cross. The trek continues to Ukhum and downhill for about one and half hours to Dungre Khola. We trek uphill to Kuri via the suspension bridge. Located on the hilltop, Kuri village overlooks to the breathtaking landscape and Ganesh Himal range. We continue our trek through Birchet village finally reaching Khaniyabas Village or Satya Devi. The sunsets are breathtaking on clear days and also the Ankhu River and Todke hill gives a perfect painting-like image right in front of your eyes.

                    • Day 10 Khaniyabas to Megan Danda (3,220 m).

                      The breakfast will be followed by a walk to Thambu Khola from where we take stone steps for 2 and half hours uphill to Kimdang Gaun. We stop here for lunch and trek to Megan Danda walking through the dense jungle at the top of the hill. Megan Danda is another viewpoint which gives you the 270-degree view of the mountains

                      • Day 11 Megan Danda to Trishuli Bazaar.

                        In about 5 hours, we reach Trishuli Bazaar from Megan Danda. We take a downhill route to Trishuli Bazaar, the route is accompanied by the sound of river Trishuli. We enjoy barbeque and campfire by the river and stay overnight at a guest house.

                        • Day 12 Trishuli Bazaar to Kathmandu by bus.

                          After late lunch, we depart from Trishuli Bazar by private van to Kathmandu. It will take about 4 hours to reach the hotel. After freshening up, we walk around Thamel and see the nightlife of Kathmandu Valley. We will dine at a fine restaurant serving the best Nepali dinner. We check in to the hotel for good night sleep.

                          • Day 13 Transfer to Airport for final departure from Nepal.

                            Finally, the trip has come to an end. After the wakeup call, the breakfast is served at the Hotel. Have a safe flight back and we hope to Megan you again in the near future.
