Langtang Valley Ganja La Pass Trek Itinerary

  • Day 1 Arrival in Kathmandu Airport and transfer to hotel. Overnight at hotel

    After you arrive at the Tribhuvan International Airport, we will pick you up and transfer you to the hotel. You can stroll around the city and local marketplaces. 

    • Day 2 Kathmandu to Sybrubensi (1,503 mt.) by bus. Driving 7-8 hours.Overnight at guest house.

      On the second day, we will leave early for Sybrubensi. The ride is a long undulating road through green hills and alongside many rivers will take 7-8 hours. Sybrubensi is the starting point for the Langtang trek and has many shops where you can buy trekking accessories. We will spend the overnight at a guest house.

      • Day 3 Sybrubensi to Lama Hotel (2,410 mt.). Walking for 5-6 hours. Overnight at guest house.

        On the first day of our trek, we will start our journey towards the Lama Hotel walking along the Langtang Khola. We will ascend and descend multiple times to reach Bamboo village. After lunch at Bamboo, the trail reveals steep uphill climbs. We will spend our night at the small yet beautiful valley, Lama Hotel.

        • Day 4 Lama Hotel to Langtang village (3,430 mt.). Walking for 5-6 hours. Overnight at guest house.

          From Lama Hotel, we will walk towards the Langtang Village. The trail has dense and beautiful oak and rhododendron forest. The journey will bless you with beautiful views of Langtang Himal (6,596m), Langtang Lirung (7,227m) and other mountains. You can also taste the local rhododendron and seabuckthorn juices. We continue our walk to Langtang village after a quick lunch stop at Ghodatabela.

          • Day 5 Langtang village to Kyanjin Gompa (3,840 mt.). Walking for 4 hours. Overnight at guest house.

            After having breakfast, we will head towards Kyanjin Gompa which takes about 4 hours. The wide meadows with yaks and horses grazing and the backdrop of the huge hills and mountains will amaze you throughout. You will walk past villages like Mundu and Sindum. You will pass across Mani walls, prayer flags, and Chortens. The Kyanjin Gompa has the monastery, cheese factory, and bakery where you can visit and get a taste of the local products.

            • Day 6 Exploration around Langtang valley (LangsisaKharka, Kyangin Ri, Tserko Ri as time permits). Overnight at guest house.

              This will be an interesting day as we will visit many places around Langtang Valley. We acclimatize ourselves to the high altitude and we have the option to climb nearby peaks like Kyanjin Ri (4,773m) and Tserko Ri (4,984m) can be interesting activities if you have a heart of an adventurer. The view atop is the panoramic spectacle of mountain peaks like Langtang Lirung (7,227m), Langtang II (6,596m), Yala peak (5,500m) and other mountain ranges. Apart from these, you can spend the day visiting the nearby glaciers and playing with snow.

              • Day 7 Kyanjin Gompa to Nay kanga Base Camp (4,000mt.). Walking 6 hours. Overnight at tented camp.

                From Kyanjin Gompa, we will take a different route heading towards Nay Kanga Base Camp. The day has about 6 hours of walking through the icy and rocky routes. It is advised to take extreme caution while trekking on such icy and rocky paths. Since there are no guest houses at the Nay Kanga Base Camp, we will spend overnight in tented camp.

                • Day 8 Nay kanga Base Camp to GyalthanPhu (4,100 mt.) via Ganja-La Pass (5,130m). Walking for 7-8 hours. Overnight at tented camp.

                  This day we will cross the Ganja-La Pass which can be quite challenging. Today’s path follows a steep rocky trail and we will walk slowly to adapt ourselves to the increasing altitude. The walk will culminate at Ganja-La Pass (5,130m) which is also the highest point of the trek. The walk now includes gradual descend until we reach GyalthanPhu.

                  • Day 9 GyalthanPhu to Dhukpa (4,000 mt.). Walking for 5-6 hours. Overnight at tented camp.

                    Walking along the ridges, and grasslands, we will reach Dhukpa from GyalthanPhu. The day includes about 5-6 hours of walking. The trek includes multiple uphill and downhill trails to reach Dhukpa. We come across much wildlife in the area reflecting the richness of Langtang region in terms of biodiversity. We will camp in the forest in the night.

                    • Day 10 Dhukpa to Tarkeghyang (2,590 mt.). Walking for 5-6 hours. Overnight at guest house.

                      From Dhukpa, the trail consists of descends and ascends. We will come across small Sherpa settlements along the way. Walking along the rhododendron and oak forests, you will reach Tarkeghyang, which is a small village of cattle herders. You can spend the rest of the day exploring the area. We will spend the night at a guest house.

                      • Day 11 Tarkeghyang to Sermathang (2,610 mt.). Walking 4-5 hours. Overnight at guest house.

                        Walking 4-5 hours from Tarkeghyang we will reach Sermathang. Sermathang is a village with a rich culture and spectacular scenery. We also go past villages like Dhupaton, Setighyang, and Tasithan. We will then cross the beautiful Sherpa village of Gangyul. We cross the Ringur Khola en route to Sermathang.

                        • Day 12 Sermathang to Melamchi Pul Bazaar. Waking for 6 hours. Overnight at guest house.

                          Melamchi Pul Bazaar is a village with many Sherpa villages. The villages are very rich in culture and tradition. The path is mostly decent as the altitude from 2610m to 870m. It will take about 6 hours to reach Melamchi Pul Bazaar from Sermathang. We will spend the night at a guest house.

                          • Day 13 Melamchi Pul Bazaar to Kathmandu by bus. Driving 3-4 hours. Overnight at hotel.

                            From Melamchi Pul Bazaar, we will catch a bus to Kathmandu, which will take us back in about 3-4 hours. The scenic drive follows a winding path along rivers and through hills to reach Kathmandu valley. You can rest or shop for souvenirs after you reach your hotel. 

                            • Day 14 Transfer to Airport for your final departure from Nepal.

                              On the day of your departure, we will drop you at the Airport. You are welcome to provide any suggestions on our trek package.
