Rupina La Pass Itinerary

  • Day 1 Arrival at Kathmandu Airport and transfer to hotel. Overnight at hotel.

    A representative will pick you up at Tribhuvan International Airport and transfer you to your respective hotel in Kathmandu for an overnight stay. 

    • Day 2 Preparation for trekking. Overnight at hotel.

      We make a final preparation for taking care of all the relevant permits and equipment for the trip. We also visit some of the culturally rich sites in the valley namely Pashupatinath, Boudhanath, Swayambhunath and Kathmandu Durbar Square. Later, in the evening we discuss briefly the trek.

      • Day 3 Kathmandu to Barpak (1,915m) by bus. Driving 7-8 hours. Overnight at guest house.

        We take a drive to Barpak from Kathmandu via Prithvi Highway moving alongside the road of Trishuli River. Relishing the view of mountain peaks, amazing hilly landscapes, and countryside we arrive at the village of Barpak inhabited by Ghale and Gurung people. We can spend the rest of the day by exploring the village.

        • Day 4 Barpak to SumbeKhadi. Walking for 5-6 hours. Overnight at guest house.

          For our first day trek, we head towards SumbeKhadi. We trek to Dharchy Danda inhabited by Gurung people where we get an opportunity to learn about their culture and lifestyle. We continue our trek descending to SumbeKhadi. During our descent, we get to observe the culture and traditions of the local Gurung community.

          • Day 5 SumbeKhadi to Danda Kharka. Walking for 6-7 hours. Overnight at guest house.

            Today we ascend through terraced fields which lead to rhododendron forest. The path through the forest is serene and we get to see a wide variety of natural vegetation. We continue our trek following up and down the trail before reaching Danda Kharka where we get an amazing view of Dhaulagiri and other mountain peaks.

            • Day 6 Danda Kaharka to Bheri Kharka. Walking 6 hours. Overnight at guest house.

              Today we continue our trek to Bheri Kharka walking through the zigzag forested trail and several Gurung villages. The walk through the forested trail leads us to several small settlements and Gurung villages as we head to Bheri Kharka. Enjoying the stunning views, we arrive at Bheri Kharka.

              • Day 7 Bheri Kharka to Rupina-La Base Camp (3,440m). Walking for 6-7 hours. Overnight at guest house.

                Today we trek towards Rupina La Basecamp via Rupina La Phedi ascending through the steep trail. We then descend to another side of basecamp relishing the view of mountains in the background. Upon reaching Rupina-La base camp, we are rewarded with the amazing views of Ganesh Himal (7,422m), Shringi Himal (7,161m), and Mt. Manaslu (8,163m). 

                • Day 8 Rupina-La Base Camp (3,440m) to Boudha Himal Base Camp(3,600m) via Rupina La Pass (4,720 mt.). Overnight at guest house.

                  Today is a challenging part of our trek. We ascend towards Boudha Himal Base Camp (3,600 m) ascending through wobbly and weak stone trails. We cross over Rupina La pass (4,720m) where we get the most amazing view of mountain ranges from top of the pass. We then descend towards Boudha Himal Basecamp. The downhill walk can be a bit tricky and caution should be taken.

                  • Day 9 Buddha Himal Base Camp (3,600 m) to Jongchet. Walking 6 hours. Overnight at guest house.

                    Crossing over Rupina La pass we trek towards Jongchet. Accompanied by beautiful mountains in the background, we continue our trek walking next to glacier to reach Jarang and following the trail between Chhilung Khola and Rebing Khola we make our way up further to Jongchet. Our walk will mostly be on steep trails and descents to finally reach Jongchet.

                    • Day 10 Jongchet to Syangyen. Walking 6 hours. Overnight at guest house.

                      Today we trek around 6 hrs to Syangyen passing through pasture lands and entering into forests of pine and oaks. Relishing the amazing view of Boudha Himal (6,672m), Peak 29 (7,879m) and other peaks, we arrive at Syangyen. We rest our tired legs and get ready for the next day on reaching Syangyen.

                      • Day 11 Syangyen to Nyak (2,340m). Walking for 6-7 hours. Overnight at guest house.

                        Leaving behind the Syangyen village, we continue our trek towards Nyak. We will be walking along the Chhuling River throughout the walk. We trek through zigzag uphill and also pass through several steep hills, forest, and villages like Gomna and Serang before arriving at the village of Nyak.

                        • Day 12 Nyak to Deng (1,860 mt.). Walking for 6-7 hours. Overnight at guest house.

                          Today we trek towards Deng leaving behind Nyak. We follow the easy path which leads us to Philim. Moving along the left side of the river, we also pass through a forest filled with bamboo to reach Deng. Deng is a small village inhabited by Gurung people. There is a viewpoint of the village which offers magnificent views of Siringi Himal (7,161m) and other peaks.

                          • Day 13 Deng to Namrung (2,630m mt.). Walking for 6-7 hours. Overnight at guest house.

                            We continue our trek climbing the trail to Bihi Phedi enjoying the view of Sringi (7,161m) and Himalchuli Mountain (7,853m). We then go downhill from Bihi Phedi which will lead us to the Budhi Gandaki River. Moving alongside the river we reach Ghap before arriving at Namrung. The village houses a viewpoint of Ganesh Himal (7,422m) and Siringi Himal (7,161m).

                            • Day 14 Namrung to Sama Gaun (3,520 mt.). Walking 6 hours. Overnight at guest house.

                              Today we trek through stone gate and long Mani stone walls relishing the full view of Peak 29 (7,879m) in the background. We can take a short journey to Puggen Glacier where we get the close-up view of Manaslu (8,163m). Following the lateral moraine of Puggen Glacier, we arrive at Sama Gaun. The village is also a checkpoint to Makalu Conservation Area.

                              • Day 15 Rest day for acclimatization and exploration at Sama Gaun. Overnight at guest house.

                                We spend this day to acclimatize and adjust to the high altitude. We explore nearby Sama Gaun visiting Birendra Kunda which is an ice lake located near Manaslu Base Camp (4,400m), we can further take a short walk to Manaslu Base Camp from where we get a splendid view of Samdo (6,335m), Nagdi Chuli (7,871m), Simnang (6,251m) and Manaslu Glacier.

                                • Day 16 Sama Gaun to Samdo (3,875 mt.). Walking 3-4 hours. Overnight at guest house.

                                  Today we continue our trek towards Samdo ascending through terraced hills on the opposite bank of Budhi Gandaki River. We also come across several Chortens and Mani walls before reaching a remote settlement of Samdo. Upon reaching, we take a short afternoon hike to Samdo peak (6,335m) passing through colorful prayer flag where we get an amazing view of Manaslu.

                                  • Day 17 Samdo to Dharmasala (4,460 mt.). Walking 3-4 hours. Overnight at guest house.

                                    Today we follow the trail that takes through terraced fields, large Mani walls, prayers flag and stone archways. Crossing the wooden bridge over the river, we continue trekking by crossing two more streams. Ascending through the valley of Salka Khola we arrive at Dharmasala. There are specially built stone houses for trekkers to stay too.

                                    • Day 18 Dharmasala to Bimthang (3,590 mt.) via Larkya-La pass (5,160 mt.). Walking for 7-8 hours. Overnight at guest house.

                                      We ascend towards a moraine from where we can see the Cheo Himal (6,812m) and Larke Peak (6,249m) on the north side of Larkya Glacier. Gently ascending through steep trail we arrive at Larkya La pass (5,160m) from where we can see the amazing views of Cheo Himal (6,812m) and the massive Annapurna II (7,937m). We then descend downhill through steep trail before reaching Bimthang.

                                      • Day 19 Bimtang to Tilje (2,300 mt.). Walking for 5-6 hours. Overnight at guest house.

                                        Today trekking trail descends to glacier streams. Crossing the wooden bridge and passing through high pasture land, we make our way up further to Dudh Khola. We pass through numerous Gurung villages to reach the crest. We then descend into the forest of rhododendron and oaks followed by narrow valley before reaching Tilije.

                                        • Day 20 Tilje to Dharapani (1,430 mt.) and drive to Besisahar. Walking 2-3 hours and driving for 4-5 hours. Overnight at guest house.

                                          Today we climb up over a small ridge which leads us to stone paved villages. We pass through closely spaced houses of these villages. Relishing the amazing view in the background and crossing over several suspension bridges we arrive at Dharapani. We take a bus ride to Besisahar for an overnight stay.

                                          • Day 21 Drive back to Kathmandu by bus. Driving 5-6 hours. Overnight at hotel.

                                            After breakfast, we drive back to Kathmandu relishing the countryside view. We can roam around the city and shop for souvenirs on our final day in the country of Nepal. We transfer you back to your hotel in Kathmandu.

                                            • Day 22 Transfer to Airport for your final departure from Nepal.

                                              Our staff will drop you at Tribhuvan International Airport prior to your scheduled flight hoping to see you again.
