Monsoon and the summer coincide in the region. Everest Base Camp is a dry high altitude region. It receives only about 18 inches rainfall in the higher altitudes during the rainy season.

In early November, the night temperature will be around -7 degrees. This decreases to around -12 degrees towards the end of the month.

Nights are freezing! Wear thick clothing, especially during nights. Gloves, sleeping bags, snow jackets, and snow pants are the must carry items.

This is a dry month with the least chances of rainfall and dense snow. So, you will have easy time trekking on the trails to the Everest Base Camp.

Winter at Everest Base Camp

It is freezing cold at the Everest Base Camp in winter. Days are shorter and the nights are a lot colder. The weather is dry.  Mornings are usually not so clear.  You will see morning mists and snow falls as well.
There are chances of big winter snowstorms sometimes. The storms often bring piles of snow, over a meter.  However, on a clear day, you can get a spectacular view of the mountains.

The daytime temperature at the Everest Base Camp is nearly 4 degrees. The nights are terribly freezing. The temperatures at night is around -15 degrees.
Get a warm sleeping bag and thick clothes to cover yourself at night. Daytime is also cold. So, wear the winter clothing and carry the winter gears for the trek.

January is the mid-winter time at the Everest Base Camp. The camp experiences the coldest weather. During daytime, the sunrays are mild. It is not as intense as in other seasons. The daytime temperature remains around 4 degrees generally.

However, nights are chilling. The temperature drops to nearly -17 degrees at night. If you aren’t carrying suitable winter gears, it will be so hard to adjust at the base camp in January.
